world-earth-dayAffluent people all over the world are generously helping to make our planet healthier. The mother of all green organizations, Natural Resources Defense Council was one of America’s 100 best charities, and the New York Times called it, “One of the nation’s most powerful environmental groups.” Many celebrity backers such as, Robert Redford, Leonardo DiCaprio and James Taylor are board members.

Global Green USA, founded by former Russian President Mikhail, is another leading “best charity.” Relying heavily on support from affluent stars such as, Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Morgan Freeman, Natalie Portman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon and Salma Hayek, Global Green USA is making huge strides in addressing our planets environmental issues.

Making environmental issues his personal crusade, Leo DiCaprio is extremely active in educating others as well as actively changing his affluent lifestyle to represent green luxury living. He lives in a solar-powered home and drives a bio-diesel vehicle. Leo puts his fame to good use for our planet by promoting true-green organizations through his Web site. If you are looking for the real green thing, Leo will have it on his site. Currently, he sits on the boards of two of the most important environmentally conscientious organizations of today: the Natural Resources Defense Council and Global Green USA. He extends his activism into his creative pursuits with his eco-documentary, “11th Hour,” which he produced, co-wrote and narrated.

Growing up with environmentalist parents, Edward Norton lives an eco-conscious lifestyle with a fully solar-powered home. He also diligently works to educate and promote fellow affluent peers to go solar with his BP Solar Neighbors Program, where he matches each celebrity’s purchase of a solar-energy system for their home with providing a full solar installation to a low-income home in Los Angeles. Also participating in Norton’s Solar Neighbor’s program are Don Cheadle, Alicia Silverstone, Salma Hayek and Brad Pitt, to name a few.

Brad Pitt, along with celebrity home designer Mike Holmes, from “Holmes on Homes” fame, have designed and set about to build 150 new energy efficient homes in one of the Katrina-devastated areas of New Orleans. As a team, they have designed all of the homes to have solar panels as well as other eco-friendly features such as capturing rainwater to reuse for gardening and toilets. Brad’s Make it Right project is being touted as the future model for our urban cities.

Seth Green is one to follow as he generously gives to green organizations across the planet. If you follow his donations, you can be well assured they are top-notch green environmentally friendly organizations that work endlessly to make a healthier planet.

Although world’s and a generation apart, both Rosario Dawson and Amitabh Bachchan promote Global Cool, which works tirelessly at bringing money to clean energy and energy- reduction projects all over the world.
